Roberto M. Garcia (956) 383-0158 bus. (956) 380-0113 fax. Local 3307 has on retainer, the Law Office of Roberto M. Garcia. Mr. Garcia is a duly appointed Union Representative and will represent dues-paying members during the course of any administrative investigation, i.e. OIA / OPR / OIG / CIRT, or any other entity / agency acting on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security or its components. Mr. Garcia has assisted members in numerous incidents. Mr. Garcia also provides invaluable guidance to the Representatives serving the Union, as well as to individual members on a private basis. BIO Mr. Garcia graduated from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government in 1972 and received his Juris Doctor Degree from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshal School of Law in Houston, Texas in 1976. While in Law School, Mr. Garcia received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in the study of contracts. He is licensed to practice in all state courts and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. While attending college, Mr. Garcia served in the United States Army Reserve, and was honorably discharged in 1976 with the rank of Sp.4. Mr. Garcia has been engaged in the private practice since 1976. Mr. Garcia represents persons on private employment matters and serves as General Counsel, not only to Local 3307, but also to the South Texas Organization of Police (STOP), and International Union of Police Associations (IUPA) Local 51. He also serves as contracted counsel to the McAllen Firefighters Association, the Texas Association of Firefighters, and the Texas Federation of Teachers. Mr. Garcia is a certified mediator and conducts mediations in the personal injury and employment areas. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Hidalgo County Bar Association, Texas Association of Mediators, National Employment Lawyers Association, Texas Employment Lawyers Association and the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Garcia has served as an elected Trustee of the McAllen Independent School District and as a participant and member of the Board of Directors of Leadership McAllen. |
